Driverless Cars Coming To The Science Museum

How close is the driverless future we’ve all been promised?

A new exhibition at the Science Museum explores how artificial intelligence might shape the future of transport.

Full-on driverless passenger vehicles might be some time off yet, at least on London’s higgledy piggledy roads, but companies are already experimenting with drone delivery and other AI-driven tech.

The exhibition looks at the current state of play, the possible futures and ethical questions about handing control over to a machine.

You’ll also get the chance to view a scale model of Boaty McBoatface, the autonomous submersible that took on that moniker in place of its mothership, after a much-ridiculed public poll.

Driverless: Who is in Control? is at the Science Museum from 12 June 2019 to October 2020.
